According to the Pentagon, the contract provides for the design, integration, testing, production and delivery of 25 new F-15 aircraft for the Israeli Air Force, as well as an option to purchase 25 more such fighters.
The Pentagon adds that the contract relates to the sale of foreign military equipment to Israel, as the US has long been the largest arms supplier to its closest ally in the Middle East.
Reuters notes that pro-Palestinian and anti-war protesters across the US have demanded Washington end military support for Israel over its attacks on Gaza, but these demands have not been met by the administrations of President Donald Trump and former President Joe Biden.
Contract work will be performed in St. Louis and is expected to be completed by December 31, 2035, the Pentagon said in a statement.
What preceded: President Donald Trump said he is “not concerned” about Israel’s actions, including the speed with which it is moving to the second phase of the Gaza peace plan.
Before the start of negotiations with Netanyahu Trump saidwhich will support new Israeli attacks on Iran if Tehran continues its missile and nuclear program.
Netanyahu called Trump “a great happiness for Israel” and the world.
