The coalition government, which is expected to receive a vote of confidence from parliament also on Monday, includes Čolaku’s Social Democrats, the center-right Liberals and the ethnic Hungarian UDMR party.

The Social Democratic Party will hold eight government posts, including justice, transport, labor and defence, and most of its current ministers will remain in their posts.

The center-right Liberal Party will hold six cabinet posts, including the ministries of energy, interior and foreign affairs. The ethnic Hungarian party UDMR will have two positions, including in finance.

Together with representatives of local ethnic minorities, the three parties will have a slim majority in the legislature.

The stage of negotiations regarding the new Government has ended. The pro-European coalition formed by PSD, PNL, UDMR and minorities decided to form the majority and the government. Already today in the parliament, this majority has been verified and it is certain. The pro-European coalition offered me the candidacy, which I decided to accept. Therefore, I nominate Mr. Marcel Colaca for the post of Prime Minister of the Government of Romania. At the same time, let me wish success to the new coalitions, the pro-European, pro-Romanian coalition, which has every chance to restrain Romania’s very good course after the undeniable economic successes, after Romania’s accession to the Schengen area, and I believe that they will cope very well with the problems we are facing now, of course, we are faced with the construction of the budget and the establishment of the presidential election calendar
