“Among other things, we discussed the Dutch investment package of 700 million euros for the production of drones that are partially aimed at the Ukrainian defense industry. The Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression,” Dick Shoiof wrote.
In the fall of 2024, the Netherlands already announced the allocation of € 400 million to start the development and production of drones of various types for Ukraine. Half was planned to be manufactured in the Netherlands, the rest in Ukraine and other countries.
It is unclear whether the prime minister named an additional investment in the program, or an increase in the initially allocated amount to 700 million euros.
The Netherlands Defense Minister Ruben Breccelmans mentioned in the October announcement that if the developed drones are successful, additional funds will be allocated for expansion of production.
Zelensky, for his part, noted that they discussed coordination with partners and further plans after a summit in London.
“We also talked about the strengthening of our country. The Netherlands is preparing new military and financial assistance packages, and I have informed the Prime Minister about our priority needs,” he wrote.
