The National Anti-Corruption Bureau announced that on Monday, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine searched the relatives of the detective of the bureau, who, among other things, investigated the “Rotterdam+” case.

“We inform you that today the SBU officers searched the relatives of a detective of the National Bureau, who investigated a number of high-profile cases, in particular, regarding abuses in the energy sector (“Rotterdam+”) and in railway enterprises, in particular, on suspicion of embezzlement of funds for the purchase of transformers by the ex-deputy head of the SBU department, as well as illegal enrichment of the general and deputy head of the SBU department,” the press service said in a telegram.

NABU continues to perform its duties in accordance with the law, ensuring the inevitability of responsibility for corruption crimes, regardless of the positions and influence of those involved, the bureau added.

The SBU was not notified of these investigative actions, nor did they respond to this notification from NABU.

In August 2019, NABU detectives reported suspicion to six persons involved in the introduction of the so-called “Rotterdam+” formula. Among them was Dmytro Vovk, the former head of the NCRECP. These people are suspected of committing actions, as a result of which electricity consumers suffered losses in the amount of almost 19 billion hryvnias.

NABU stated that on July 21, about 70 searches were carried out by employees of the SBU, the State Bureau of Investigation and the Prosecutor General’s Office against the bureau’s employees. The inspection also took place at the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

At the same time, in July, “Ukrainian Pravda” published an article about the searches at NABU and quoted an anonymous interlocutor in the anti-corruption authorities, who he assumed was the reason for conducting investigative actions against the detectives: “In general, we think that they simply worked preventively, because we learned that NABU was preparing a suspicion against Timur Mindich (co-owner of “Kvartal” Studio 95″)”, the interlocutor in the anti-corruption bodies suggested in the UP material
