The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the adoption of the UN resolution on human rights violations in the territories occupied by Russia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomes the adoption by the UN General Assembly with 81 votes “in favor” of the updated resolution “Situation with human rights in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, including the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.”

This is stated in the commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ukrinform reports.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to the international community for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state.

“The clear position of the UN General Assembly and the member countries of the Organization is an important step towards restoring respect for international law, holding Russia accountable for all the crimes committed,” the commentary emphasized.

The Ministry calls on all UN member states to continue putting pressure on the aggressor state for the sake of restoring justice and sustainable peace in Ukraine and the world as a whole. Returning to the rule of law and respect for fundamental freedoms will contribute to the strengthening of European and global security, will prevent the recurrence of similar crimes in the future, the agency emphasized.

Resolution of the UN General Assembly “Situation with human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, Ukraine” has been adopted annually since 2016 and contains new provisions and wording each time.
