Details: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine strongly condemned the meeting between Lukashenka and Pushylin on September 19, which the ministry considers to be another manifestation of Belarus’ disdain for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Literally the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “This meeting is another confirmation that the position of the current authorities of Belarus regarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine is dictated solely by the instructions of the Kremlin and has nothing to do with either international law or the international obligations of the Republic of Belarus.
Ukraine rejects Oleksandr Lukashenko’s hypocritical rhetoric regarding the “principles” of cooperation with the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and considers it yet another evidence of support for the war of aggression against our state.
We call on the Belarusian people to realize that against the background of repeated contacts of Belarusian officials with Russian puppets from our temporarily occupied territories, Oleksandr Lukashenko’s constant statements about his “warm feelings” for the “brotherly Ukrainian people” sound like a mockery, and his practical actions destroy the principles of good neighborliness and mutual respect, on which relations between the Ukrainian and Belarusian peoples were built.
The mentioned unfriendly actions of the political leadership of Belarus cannot remain without a proper response and will have negative consequences for Ukrainian-Belarusian relations.”
What preceded: On Thursday, September 19, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus Oleksandr Lukashenko met with the leader of the so-called “DPR” Denys Pushylin and declared his readiness to develop cooperation with the region occupied by Russia.
Lukashenko also cynically noted that he is “ready to cooperate with Ukraine on the same basis as with the DPR.”
