According to the European Commission, the prematurely announced decision of Ukraine did not cause energy risks for EU countries and did not affect prices on the European market.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine emphasized that it is the terrorist country that is the main source of problems on the European energy market. The Kremlin has used energy as a tool of political pressure for decades, eventually forcing Europe to diversify its energy sources.
Most European countries have adapted to the new realities, ensuring the stability of their energy systems thanks to alternative supplies from the US and the Middle East. At the same time, as the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry notes, only a few countries, in particular Hungary, could not cope with this task.
The statement also criticized the attempts of individual EU countries to maintain their dependence on the Russian Federation, which undermines the unity of the European Union. Ukraine reminded that energy independence is the key to ensuring stability and security in the region, and called on Hungary to join joint efforts aimed at strengthening European unity.
Concluding the statement, the Ukrainian side emphasized: if Hungary chooses the path of supporting dependence on the Russian Federation, it is against the interests of the EU and NATO. Ukraine, for its part, is ready to become a worthy member of these organizations if someone decides to change priorities.
