Details: As you know, recently the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babis, after the meeting of the “coalition of the determined” in Paris, stated that the initiative on ammunition for Ukraine may continueif it will be financed by other states.

Therefore, “EvroPravda” asked Matsinka what caused the decision not to cancel the projectile initiative. In response to this, the Czech Foreign Minister noted that this initiative “was preceded by a whole series of questions and speculations.”

“That’s why we wanted to first consider it, study it, analyze it, and also find out whether it is possible to do it a little differently, but with the same result,” he explained.

Matsinka emphasized that it was also important to discuss this issue with coalition partners.

“Since there were elections, not everyone had the same position, but it is important that they reached a certain consensus and that this initiative will continue,” concluded the head of the Czech Foreign Ministry.

And the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiga, in his turn, commenting on the projectile initiative, emphasized that the Russian-Ukrainian war is not only about Ukraine, but also about general European security.

“Therefore, we welcome the continuation of the Czech initiative on those modalities that are acceptable to the Czech government. Modal interaction should be mutually beneficial for both sides. This is the right approach,” Sibiga believes.

Before taking office as prime minister, Andrey Babish promised cancel the “missile initiative”which helps supply Ukraine with artillery ammunition.

At the same time, he later softened his rhetoric regarding the initiative – in particular, he said that it should be dealt with at the NATO level.

We will remind, earlier during “Ramstein” the Czech Republic announcedthat the supply of 760,000 artillery shells has already been financed within the framework of the “Czech Initiative” for 2026.
