“The Ministry of Development spoke about the possibility of partially opening the airspace of Ukraine State bodies are considering the possibility of partially opening the airspace of Ukraine. Due to the high level of threats, this is unlikely in the short term, special attention is paid to Boryspil and Lviv airports.”, — write on: unn.ua
Tkachenko commented on information about the possible resumption of air traffic and the potential opening of airports in Lviv and Kyiv.
“There is a lot of information spreading on the network and, in general, there are many different discussions around it. I would like to emphasize that the restoration of air traffic depends precisely on the security situation in the country. Currently, all state bodies are working on the possibility of partially opening the airspace, but due to a very high level of threats – this remains unlikely in the short term,” Tkachenko said.
He noted that special attention is being paid to the possible opening of airports in Boryspil and Lviv, which are the most key for passenger transportation.
“It is also an interesting fact that comparisons with Israel are often heard, but it is worth understanding that the situations are significantly different. Israel has been building a powerful air defense system for years, which allows for a prompt response to threats. In Ukraine, the enemy uses a different type of missiles, and the defense system has not yet reached necessary level for the safe opening of airspace. Taking into account the latest types of missiles used by the Russian Federation, this fact must be taken into account very carefully. Therefore, it is too early to talk about a partial opening,” said Tkachenko.

At the end of October, Ukraine presented a roadmap for opening airspace under martial law, presenting a step-by-step plan and requirements for partially opening airspace.
On November 7, the senior partner of Marsh McLennan insurance broker Crispin Ellison stated at the Kyiv International Economic Forum (KIEF) that there are 5-6 airlines that would like to start flying in Ukrainian airspace from January 2025. “Boryspil” airport is an initial idea. But everything will depend on air protection.
