It is not about the replacement of the current drawing of MM-14 (“pixel”), but about the introduction of an additional option-like the already allowed “Olive”, “Coyote” or MM-16F. It is noted that the new pattern should improve masking in individual conditions and meet the needs of the military who already use such patterns, in particular at their own expense.
The Central Department of Development of Material Support (TsurMZ) approved the updated technical specification A01xj.29979-539: 2025 (02) “Cotton and mixed fabrics”, supplementing it with a new MM-25 masking drawing. According to the department, more than ten appeals from manufacturers who are interested in familiarization with the pattern and its color palette have been received to Tsurmz.
“Our task is to provide the military with the necessary uniforms and equipment, as well as to create conditions for Ukrainian producers to officially provide the army with the necessary real property,” said Lieutenant Colonel Maxim Kayola.
The purchasing agency of the MOU “DOT” has already announced tenders for the first trial batches of products from MM-25. In 2025, they plan to buy 20 thousand units of products with new camouflage to evaluate production capacity and gradual integration of the pattern into the Armed Forces.
Direct Language of the Director of the Program of the Program Dot Nikita Chichkan: “We understand that new requirements for material support are a call for both the customer and the manufacturers. After receiving the request from the military, we initiated purchases in five positions that fall under these updated standards. Our goal – that the military received clothing that meets their real needs, and manufacturers are able to realize these orders.”
Details: The Defense Ministry expects that the emergence of a new pattern will give more options for combat units and will open up opportunities for those manufacturers who already work with similar printing and tailoring technology.
The report of a new camouflage drawing called “MM-25” appeared on July 29 on the website of the Central Department of Development of the Ministry of Defense.
According to “Militar”, referring to the profile resources “Boroshno News” and First Division, MM-25 is in fact a copy of the world-famous Multicam.
Former adviser to the Minister of Defense Dana Yarova criticized the Ministry of Defense’s initiative. She believes that the reason for the popularity of Multicam is not in the pattern, but as fabric.
Direct Language of Yarova: “Guys wear Multicam not because it is more pretty. And not because it is better” merged “with relief. And because the fabric is different: lighter, breathable, withstands load, does not rot on the body after 48 hours in the duty.
And now MO proposes not to change the fabric, but simply redraw the picture. Because in color, it is easier to earn than in innovations. ”
Details: She also noted that the production of fabric with such a pattern is much more expensive, because Multicam is 7 colors against 5 pixels. According to her, in Ukraine, only one manufacturer has a technical ability to produce such fabric, and for full reconnaissance of production can take up to a year.
At the same time, the chairman of the Anti -Corruption Council at the Ministry of Defense Yuri Gudimenko in a comment to the Air Force stressed that over the past one and a half years a number of units, in particular GUR, sent requests to the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense for official supply of form with such a pattern. Now, after the Defense Ministry’s decision, they will be able to obtain the necessary set of form from the state.
He also noted that the differences between “pixel” and MM-25 not only in appearance, but also in fabric, conditions of use, types of tasks and even identification on the front:
“For special units, this is a element of protection and element of status, I can say that because it is the former military. Type: ordinary land wears pixel, and special carries with cartoons. This is on the front. This is an important element for the identification of special units,” Gudimenko stressed.
Reference: In 2014, the Ministry of Defense announced the transition to a new camouflage-MM-14 pixel. He replaced the Soviet “Dubka” and was created on the model of camouflage of Western armies. From the moment of introduction in Pixel, all samples of real property, including military uniform, began to be made.
Unlike blurred oak spots, a new pattern consisted of pixel squares in shades of marsh green, gray-green, dark gray and light green on a beige-sand background. For the Navy developed a separate version with dark blue colors.
MM-14 is designed for masking in the conditions of urban, forest and steppe terrain. Its main goal is to “blur” the silhouette of the military at different distances and complicate detection, in particular through night vision devices.
MM-25 (deciphered as “Masking 2025”) is stylistically close to the American Multicam pattern. This camouflage was developed by Crye Precision in 2002 at the request of the US Armed Forces. It consists of seven colors and is used in different types of terrain, providing adaptive masking.
The military in Ukraine already use a form with a similar pattern – often purchasing it at its own expense because of the comfort of fabric and convenience in combat.
