The head of the communications department explained that the restoration of all payments and provisions for those who returned from the SZH, resumes after the official order to enlist in the reserve battalion.
“When the commander issues an order to the military unit that the serviceman is enrolled in the reserve battalion, from that moment on, the payment of monetary support is resumed, physical and food provision is made, and all benefits are renewed in accordance with the current legislation,” he said.
Kuzmenko emphasized that “in the period from the moment the soldier leaves his unit to the issuance of the order to enroll in the reserve battalion, no monetary support or material support payments are made.”
In August, the Ukrainian parliament approved a law that proposes not to punish the first voluntary desertion of a military unit (SZCH) or desertion, if the soldier returns on his own and the commander allows him to continue his service.
And on November 29, the law on the voluntary return to service of those who voluntarily left a military unit or deserted for the first time entered into force. It provides that, during the martial law, servicemen who voluntarily left military units for the first time, but later voluntarily arrived at the place of service, the contract continues. Cash payments are also being renewed.
The State Bureau of Investigation stated that servicemen who voluntarily return to service before January 1, 2025 will be reinstated with all social guarantees.
