The Minister of Defense of the Netherlands reported on the interception of Russian fighter jets over the Baltic Sea

The Netherlands, together with Finland and Sweden, intercepted Russian military aircraft over the Baltic Sea with the help of F-35 fighters, Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Breckelmans wrote on the X network.

“Our F-35s demonstrate vigilance against Russian threats every day. Yesterday, together with Finland and Sweden, we intercepted Russian planes equipped with supersonic missiles over the Baltic Sea,” the post reads.

This is not the first such incident involving Russian fighter jets. On December 6, two Dutch F-35 fighter jets intercepted three Russian planes over the Baltic Sea, the press service of the country’s Ministry of Defense reported.

Interceptions were common even before Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. NATO planes made about 400 interceptions of Russian planes annually.
