The media reported a reduction in the US National Security Council

The US Presidential Administration has launched large -scale reductions in the National Security Council (RNB), dozens of employees were released. This was reported by The Washington Post, Reuters and CNN with reference to sources.

According to the interlocutors of the media, the reductions relate to both appointments from the administration and officials, seconded from the State Department, Pentagon and other agencies.

According to CNN, more than a hundred RNB staff have been sent on administrative leave. Reuters writes that among them were specialists in key geopolitical issues. The release reports were presented to them on Friday, May 23, shortly before the end of the working day. Many of them are likely to return to their agencies.

The reduction began after the appointment of the Secretary of State Marco Rubio to the post of National Security Advisor – instead of Mike Volz, who resigned after the scandal with the leakage of confidential information in the Signal Chat, where the editor -in -chief of The Atlantic Jeffrey Goldberg was accidentally founded.

Proponents of the abbreviations point out that the number of RNB has increased significantly under previous presidents. For George Bush Jr., 204 people worked in the Council, 222 for Barack Obama, for Joe Biden-186. Currently, the number want to reduce up to 50-60 people without administrative staff.

The sources of The Washington Post have specified that in order to effectively work the RNB, the White House should transfer more powers to other national security agencies, but this is unlikely because of the Trump management style.
