The mayor of Voznesensk, Mykolaiv region, Yevgeny Velichko, was involved in a traffic accident, as a result of which a person died. The mayor was detained and informed of the suspicion.

Details: According to the Voznesensk City Council, the accident involving Velichka on January 28 occurred during his business trip near the village of Pushkove, Golovaniv District, Kirovohrad Oblast.

According to the Kirovohrad Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the car was driven into the oncoming lane due to weather conditions.

Previously, there were three people in the Renault Megane car that collided with the mayor’s vehicle: the driver died at the scene, a married couple – a man and a woman – are in a medical facility with injuries.

At the same time, there were no other persons in the official’s car – the vehicle was moving without passengers.

“In the criminal proceedings related to the traffic accident that occurred on January 28, under the procedural guidance of the head of the Kirovohrad Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the mayor of Voznesensk was informed of the suspicion. He was detained in accordance with Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine,” – began the spokeswoman of the regional prosecutor’s office.
