The chairman of the municipal council of the Latvian city of Ogre Egils Helmanis was injured in Ukraine as a result of Russian shelling, said LSM.LV, Latvian public broadcaster, a representative of the municipality of Patrix Grev.
Grev also noted that Helmanis is now on a business trip, where he and his like -minded people deliver the necessary vehicles and other assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“Such trips are regularly included in the agenda of the mayor, even since 2022, from the very beginning (full -scale) war, every few months have been donated and brought a considerable number of cars, this time about 20 cars,” Griva said.
According to the information obtained by the Latvian edition from Ukrainian sources, Helmanis health is stable.
