Details: The publication assumes that most of these boys were 8-15 years old at the beginning of the war in 2014, and their views were shaped by the occupied environment.
Journalists have learned the names of 22 men from the occupied territories who have become Russian conscripts, but so far cannot confirm whether this was voluntary or forced, although some of them openly support Russia.
Article 51 of the Geneva Convention prohibits the occupying power to force persons under its protection to serve in its armed or auxiliary forces. Including is prohibited pressure and propaganda aimed at ensuring voluntary military service.
Literally: “However, regarding many of those identified, we had doubts about the voluntariness of their conscription. We tried to call them or their relatives, sent questions to the messengers that we managed to find. We asked whether they entered the service voluntarily. We also asked three conscripted residents with similar questions Crimea
Everyone ignored our questions.”
