“On Monday, February 24, the third anniversary of a full -scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine is marking. I decided on this occasion to be in Kiev, along with Ursula von der Lyen, to confirm our support to the heroic Ukrainian people and democratically elected President Vladimir Zelensky, ”the post reads.
Earlier, the European Commission responded to the words of US President Donald Trump that the leader of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is a “dictator without elections”. They noted that “Zelensky was legitimately elected in free, honest and democratic elections,” and stressed that “Ukraine is democracy, and Putin Russia is not.”
On February 19, US President Donald Trump named President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky a “dictator without an election” who risks losing his country if he does not “move fast”.
Despite the fact that the formally presidential powers of Vladimir Zelensky had to end in May 2024, Ukraine was unable to hold an election, because after the start of the full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation in February 2022, it has a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation. The impossibility of holding the elections under such conditions is enshrined in the Ukrainian legislation, and there is also consent among the leading political forces, including opposition to Zelensky.
Trump’s comment on the low rating of the President of Ukraine was made at a critical time when officials of the United States and Russia were discussing – without the representation of Ukraine and Europe – on a peace agreement that would complete the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
On February 19, a survey conducted at the beginning of February by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) demonstrates: more than half (57%) Ukrainians trust President Vladimir Zelensky, do not trust him 37% of research participants.
According to a number of analysts, including Professor Manchester University, 63% of Ukrainians approve of Zelensky’s work as a president, which is much more than last year.
February 24 will be three years since the full -scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine.
