“On January 4, the long-range drones of the Security Service covered more than 900 kilometers, flew almost to St. Petersburg and successfully hit the target,” the source said.
The SBU representative also showed a video, which, according to him, shows one of the drones hitting containers with gas condensate.
“As a result of the impact, one tank was severely damaged, and three nearby ones were cut by debris from the explosion. Experts say that the repair will take at least a month if materials are available and will definitely lead to interruptions in the operation of the terminal,” the report says.
The SBU noted that the Ust-Luga terminal is a large logistics hub in the Baltic Sea through which Russia sells oil and gas with the help of a “shadow fleet”.
On January 4, the Russian publication Astra, citing unnamed sources, wrote that drones attacked Russia’s largest sea trade port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad Region.
According to the publication, most of the drones that attacked the Leningrad region were shot down over the Novatrans LLC terminal on the territory of the Ust-Luga sea trade port.
The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that 16 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight on January 4 over several regions, in particular the Leningrad region. The destruction was not officially reported.
Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Counter-Disinformation Center at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, confirmed the attack on the same day, saying that it was carried out by “unknown drones.” However, Kovalenko did not report on the consequences of the blow.
