“We cannot comment on it in any way. We don’t know what is true there, who offered what to whom,” said Dmytro Peskov, spokesman for the Russian President, at a briefing on January 13.

On Saturday, January 11, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy published footage of the interrogation of two soldiers from the DPRK, who were allegedly captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region. On January 12, in an evening address, Zelenskyi said that Kyiv is ready to hand over captured North Korean soldiers to the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, if he organizes their exchange for Ukrainian soldiers who are in Russian captivity.
According to Western intelligence, about 10,000 troops from the DPRK could have arrived in Russia to participate in the war. Their losses are estimated at hundreds and even thousands of people, but there is no independent confirmation of these figures. Zelensky, in particular, claims that “Russian and other soldiers from the DPRK usually finish off the wounded so that there is no evidence of North Korea’s participation in the war against Ukraine.”
Moscow and Pyongyang did not confirm, but did not directly deny the participation of North Korean servicemen in the battles against Ukraine.
