The judge from the occupied Crimea received 12 years for repression against the Crimean Tatars – the ARC Prosecutor’s Office

The Ukrainian Court sentenced to 12 years in prison by a Russian judge from the occupied Crimea, which contributed to the repression against the Crimean Tatars and adopted sentences for participation in peaceful protests, reports the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea on July 28.

The person involved after the occupation of the peninsula, the position of a judge of the Russian Federation of Bakhchisarai district court, found two Crimean Tatars guilty of administrative offense – “Organization of mass at simultaneous stay of citizens in public places that violates public order.”

It is the events of May 3, 2014, when the Russian administration banned entering the Crimea to the head of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev. In response, the Crimeans went to peaceful protests and partially blocked the roads on the routes of Simferopol – Sevastopol, Kherson – Gianko – Theodosius – Kerch and other directions.

According to the prosecutor of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Igor Ponochovny, criminal proceedings were opened in Ukraine for more than 3,800 military crimes and crimes against national security, which were committed by Russian citizens in Crimea. Currently, the Ukrainian courts have approved about 200 sentences in this category of criminal cases, and another 580 cases are under consideration.

According to the press service of the ARC Prosecutor’s Office, as of July 16, 150 former judges from the Crimea accused of treason were sentenced in absentia.
