The visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to a military team command in the Kursk region testifies to his desire to use the seizure of Judges to demonstrate military success and strength against the backdrop of a US-Ukrainian proposal for a temporary cease ceasefire. This is stated in the latest report of the American Institute for War Study (ISW).

According to analysts, this is only the second time when Putin visited Russian troops on the front line since the beginning of a full -scale invasion of Russia in February 2022. He first visited the Russian Dnipro Group Headquarters in the occupied Kherson region and the East Staff of Rosgvardia in the occupied Luhansk region in April 2023.

ISW points out that during a visit to the headquarters in Kursk region, Putin was dressed in a military uniform – a noticeable step, because during his visit to the front in April 2023 he was dressed in a suit.

“Putin is probably trying to position himself as an interested military leader and include himself in the Russian military-political leaders responsible for recent advancement of Russia in the Kursk region. Putin is also probably trying to portray himself as a strong and effective warlord on the eve of US-Russian meetings, including meetings with the US Special Representative in the Middle East Steve Witcoff on March 13, ”the report reads.

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Russian military team command in the Kursk region for the first time after the Armed Forces in the Kursk region in August 2024. There he heard the report of the head of the Russian General General of the Army Valery Gerasimov.

This visit took place against the backdrop of reports of the possessed by the Russian troops of control over the judge of the Kursk region.

In the evening of March 12, the Commander -in -Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky stated that in the suburbs of Sudzhi and the districts around her active fighting continued, the Armed Forces will “keep defense in Kurshchyna as much as it will be appropriate and necessary.”

Subsequently, the Institute of War Study (ISW), citing geolocation, published on March 12, reported that Russian troops seized the judge and advanced to Zaoleshenko (northwest of Sudzhi).
