Former President of the International Union of Biathlonists (IBU) Anders Bessseberg will be in prison for three years.

In April 2023, Bessseberg was accused of corruption, in particular, the promotion and protection of the interests of Russia, “especially in the anti -doping context.” The functionar was sentenced to three years and one month of imprisonment and for life was removed from work in biathlon.

Last October, Bessseberg achieved a re -consideration of the case. However, it did not give a significant result. All that the former functionary has achieved is a shortening of one month’s imprisonment – from 37 to 36.

Bessseberg held the post of President of the International Union of Biathlonists (IBU) in 1993 – 2018.
