Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya paid an unannounced visit to Ukraine on November 15.

As reported by the Japanese mass media, the purpose of Iwai’s visit is to hold negotiations with Ukrainian high-ranking officials. The move is believed to be aimed at confirming Tokyo’s support for Kyiv in the fight against Russian military aggression, which now also includes the participation of North Korean troops.

Iwaya arrived in Ukraine after participating in a regional economic meeting in Peru, becoming the first Japanese minister to visit Ukraine since the appointment of Japan’s new prime minister, Shigeru Ishiba.
