The government has adopted changes regarding the payment of one-time cash benefits to the families of missing servicemen who were later declared dead.

As the press service of the Ministry of Defense reports, now the deadline for submitting documents is calculated not from the date of death indicated in the certificate, but from the entry into force of the court decision declaring the soldier dead.

According to the report, family members will have three years to apply for assistance from the moment the court decision enters into force, which will guarantee the realization of their right to benefits.

An extraordinary payment of one-time cash assistance was also introduced for persons with disabilities of the 1st group, taking into account their need for urgent and expensive treatment.

On February 25, 2024, for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the number of dead Ukrainian soldiers: 31 thousand. At the same time, Zelenskyi said that he cannot disclose how many Ukrainian soldiers are wounded and missing.
