The government decided to announce a competition for the positions of members of the supervisory board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Prime Minister Yuliya Svyridenko reported.

According to her, this is another step in the framework of the government’s plan to update the management of all state-owned companies in the energy sector.

“The contracts of the current staff expire in January. Accordingly, we are launching the competition now in order to timely approve the new composition of the supervisory body and ensure the continuity of its work,” she wrote in a telegram.

Svyridenko added that the Cabinet of Ministers expects the formation of a new composition of the Naftogaz Supervisory Board by January 20, 2026.

In January 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine elected six members of the Supervisory Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine.

Before that, against the background of NABU’s investigation into Energoatom, Svyridenko announced a “comprehensive decision” regarding all state-owned companies, including energy companies.

On November 10, NABU announced the disclosure of the activities of a criminal organization, the main focus of which was “systematic obtaining of illegal benefits from Energoatom’s counterparties in the amount of 10% to 15% of the value of contracts.”

In this case, eight persons were notified of suspicion in this case. “Schemes” published a complete list. According to sources in the law enforcement agencies, this is a businessman, co-founder of the studio “Kvartal-95” Timur Mindich (code name “Carlson” on NABU tapes), ex-adviser of the Minister of Energy Ihor Myronyuk (“Rocket”), executive director of security of “Energoatom” Dmytro Basov (“Tenor”) and four more “employees” of the so-called “back office for money laundering”: among them Oleksandr Zukerman (“Sugarman”), Ihor Fursenko (“Ryoshik”), Lesya Ustymenko and Lyudmila Zorina. Later, the former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity Oleksiy Chernyshov was also informed about the suspicion of illegal enrichment.

Chernyshov’s lawyers deny that the “Che Guevara” who appears in the records released by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau is Chernyshov. According to one of the lawyers, the defense insists that the communication that appears in the case “never took place” with the participation of Chernyshov.

However, the ex-government official confirmed that he was in the office, where funds from Energoatom were probably being legalized, on the day when, as SAP claims, $1.2 million was handed over to him. At the same time, Chernyshov claims that he was there at a meeting of the “intellectual club”.
