The General Staff reported 42 assaults by Russian troops in the Pokrovsky direction per day

During the past 24 hours, 161 combat clashes were recorded on the front, in particular, 42 assault and offensive actions of Russian forces were stopped by the Ukrainian military in the Pokrovsky direction, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in the morning briefing on January 10.

According to the report, Ukrainian forces repelled 29 attacks in the Kurakhiv direction, and 25 attacks in the operational zone in Kurshchyna.

In addition, hostilities continued in the Kharkiv, Kupyan, Lyman, Siver, Kramatorsk, Toretsk, Vremiv and Dnieper directions.

“Yesterday, the enemy hit the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas with one missile attack using three missiles, as well as 55 airstrikes, dropping 76 anti-aircraft missiles. In addition, it carried out more than six thousand attacks, of which 200 were from rocket salvo systems, and used 2,408 kamikaze drones for strikes,” the summary states.

The DeepState project and the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) previously reported that the Russian army in the first days of 2025 is actively capturing new territories to the south, southeast and east of Pokrovsk.

According to DeepState data, the aggressor is not going to storm the city head-on – but will focus on the roads leading to Pokrovsk.

ISW put forward the same hypothesis. According to the Institute’s analysts, the Russian Federation concentrated its efforts on attempts to encircle Pokrovsk.
