“According to the available information, at least three attack UAVs were hit on the target. A large-scale fire broke out at the facility. It is known that fuel was stored at the oil depot, which, in particular, was used to meet the needs of the occupying army of the Russian Federation,” the post states.
On Thursday morning, regional governor Oleksandr Gusev wrote that more than 10 UAVs attacked the Voronezh region of the Russian Federation during the night. Most of them were sent to the oil depot in the Lyskinsky district.
“There are no victims. According to preliminary data, citizens’ property was not damaged… Currently, the fire on several tanks is being fought by reinforced fire brigades: dozens of pieces of equipment and two fire engines. Additional forces have been sent from two neighboring regions,” Gusev noted.
Since the beginning of 2024, Russian refineries have been regularly attacked by Ukrainian drones. At some plants, primary oil processing units failed and required repair. However, already in April of last year, Russia was able to partially restore the capacities of key oil refineries.
According to the BBC’s calculations, published in August 2024, since the beginning of the year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have attacked refineries and oil infrastructure in Russia at least 64 times.
