The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine explained the new mechanism by which a serviceman who voluntarily left a unit (SZH) could be transferred to another unit through the recruiting mechanism and denied returning from SZH exclusively to assault and equivalent units.

As the press service of the headquarters reports, a simplified mechanism for sending a letter of recommendation to a serviceman from the military unit to which he wishes to be transferred to the military unit where he is serving has been introduced via electronic document flow. The mechanism for assigning servicemen who returned after voluntary desertion to positions in new military units has also been simplified.

“The changes exclude intermediate links in the processing of documents, in particular the army corps, operational command. Appointment documents are submitted directly from the military unit to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These steps are designed to speed up the appointment of servicemen to positions,” the message reads.

However, the General Staff claims that the introduced changes do not change the conditions for returning to service after the SZH, emphasizing that letters of recommendation, which are now becoming purely electronic, should not be a way to transfer from a combat brigade to a military unit with more comfortable service conditions.

“For the transfer between the parts, there are other legal standardized instruments, and not the SZH. The servicemen who returned to the reserve battalions after the SZCH are sent to all combat brigades that need to be replenished with personnel, including the DSHV and assault units,” the headquarters added.

Earlier, the DeepState project reported in telegrams about the alleged instructions of the higher military command to prohibit the issuance of letters of recommendation to brigades to attract fighters who return to service from the SZH.

“At the same time, there is an instruction to take into account only the indicated regiments/battalions of assault troops when enlisting fighters who return to the SZH for service,” the message says.

It is noted that in this way, ordinary brigades/units lose the opportunity to replenish personnel with fighters who have decided to return from the SZH.

After the start of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, martial law was introduced and general mobilization was announced.
