According to the headquarters, in the Pokrovsky direction, since the beginning of the day, Russian troops have made 27 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian defenders from their occupied positions in the areas of Nikanorivka, Chervyn Liman, Rodynske, Myrnograd, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, Filia and towards the settlements of Kucheriv Yar, Nove Shakhove, and Grishine. Defense forces have already stopped 22 attacks.
Also, intense fighting continues in the Gulyaipol direction, where the Defense Forces repelled 23 Russian attacks in the Gulyaipol area and in the direction of Dobropill, Varvarivka, Zeleny and Pryluk. Another 13 clashes continue until now.
In the Kostyantynivka direction, Ukrainian soldiers stopped 12 offensive actions of the enemy in the areas of Oleksandro-Shultine, Pleshchiivka, Kleban-Byk settlements and in the direction of Stepanivka, Ivanopil, Mykolaipill, and Sofiivka.
Fighting also continues in the South-Slobozhansk, Lymansk, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Oleksandrivsk directions.
At the moment, no Russian offensive actions have been recorded in the Kupyan, Orichiv and Dnieper directions.
The day before, the Radio Liberty Donbas.Realii project wrote that for the first time in a very long time, the Pokrovsky direction ceased to be the leader in terms of the number of Russian assaults per day – its place was taken by Gulyaipilskyi.
On the morning of January 5, the General Staff reported 54 combat clashes around Mirnograd and Pokrovsk, and as many as 65 around Gulyaipol.
Analysts generally noted the great activity of the aggressor in the Zaporizhzhia region at the end of 2025 and at the beginning of 2026. According to their data, the Russian army is actively storming Biloghirya near Orikhov, as well as Stepnohirsk, which can open the way to the city of Zaporizhzhia for Russian troops.
