“In Russia, a criminal case was opened against the pro-war blogger of Ukrainian origin Tetyana Montyan, known for her controversial statements and support for Russian aggression. FSB officers searched her home, seized equipment, and Montyan herself is under a restraining orderโ, โ write: www.radiosvoboda.org
It is not reported under which article the case was initiated. Montyan is included in the register of persons against whom cases have been initiated under the articles on extremism and terrorism. Rosfinmonitoring blocked her accounts.
According to Montyan, the reason for the criminal case was its publication in 2022, which contained the phrase “wet the guard without any regrets.” By protection, we meant “protectors” – that’s how pro-government experts and bloggers are called in Russian political circles, who are on the side of the government in any situation.
Montian herself became known as a pro-war blogger, her Telegram channel has more than 400,000 subscribers. Born in Crimea, the activist worked as a lawyer in Ukraine until at least 2016, and lived in Kyiv until 2021. In 2015, she was listed on the “Peacemaker” website for her legal support of pro-Russian separatists. Later she moved to Russia.
In 2023, a criminal case was opened against her in Ukraine on articles about calls for the overthrow of the constitutional system, encroachment on the territorial integrity of the country, collaborationism and justification of Russian aggression. In 2025, it fell under Ukrainian sanctions.
In 2023, pro-government bloggers and publicists began to complain massively about Montyan’s publications criticizing the Russian government. Russian TV presenter Volodymyr Solovyov said that the blogger “knocked his president’s wings” (we are talking about Vladimir Putin). In October, a 2015 video circulated on Telegram channels, in which Montian calls Putin an offensive term and says that no one voted in the referendum on Crimea joining Russia.
