The intelligence noted that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the loss of Russian personnel, amounting to more than 700,000 killed and wounded, sharply undermined the quality of the Russian armed forces. Russia also lost at least 3,500 main battle tanks and 7,500 armored vehicles.
“Despite the costs incurred by ground forces, Russian territorial advances in Ukraine accelerated during 2024. This was facilitated by the Russian leadership’s tolerance for losses, as well as the numerical superiority of the Russian ground forces over the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The front line is now less stable than at any time since the beginning of the conflict,” the post reads.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of November 21, during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia lost about 727,250 of its troops, 9,398 tanks and 19,143 armored vehicles.
Russia and Ukraine give almost no information about their losses in the war. Moscow officially last named the number of people killed in September 2022 – then 5,937 people died. Kyiv did not do this for a long time, saying that the data would be disclosed after the war.
On February 25, 2024, for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the number of dead Ukrainian soldiers: 31 thousand. At the same time, Zelenskyi said that he cannot disclose how many Ukrainian soldiers are wounded and missing. Also, according to his data, Russia’s losses amounted to 180,000 servicemen killed, and up to 500,000 wounded and dead.
