“The French Parliament adopted a law for the functioning of the country without a budget The French Parliament adopted a special law for the functioning of the state without a budget for 2025. The document will allow to continue financing according to the principles of the 2024 budget until the adoption of a new estimate.”, — write on: unn.ua
Details
The document was submitted to the parliament as a matter of urgency in order to avoid, by analogy with the United States, a “shutdown” – a situation when, from January 1, the executive authorities would not be able to fulfill their powers, because they would not have funding for them.
France will enter the new year with the same principle of calculating taxes and expenses that was prescribed in the budget for 2024 – until the political crisis is overcome and the parliament does not approve a new estimate.
In the lower house, 481 deputies supported the bill, 63 abstained, and not a single vote was cast against it. The Senate must give its approval to the temporary measures by Wednesday.
We will remind
The President of France has appointed the leader of the “Democratic Movement” François Bayrou as the new prime minister of the country. The appointment followed the resignation of Michel Barnier due to his defeat in parliament.
Addition
The appointment is an important step in the formation of a new government to replace the cabinet led by Michel Barnier. Barnier resigned after the government was defeated by far-right and left-wing MPs in parliament. This event became another test for the country, which is already facing the second political crisis in the last six months.
