Four-time Olympic champion in swimming Ariarn Titmus announced the end of her career.

The Australian reported this on her social networks.

“I made the decision to end my swimming career. It was a very difficult decision, but I’m very happy with it. I love swimming, but I guess I took a break from the sport and realized that some things in my life are a little more important to me than swimming,” said Titmus.

The athlete won gold medals at the Olympic Games in 2020 and 2024. Also, the swimmer has four victories at the world championships, two silver and three bronze medals at the world championships. In the short course, Titmus also has two gold and two bronze medals at the World Championships.

In 2023, the Australian underwent an operation to remove benign tumors in the ovary, after which she returned to sports.

Titmus previously said she planned to compete in the 2028 Olympics, but her plans have since changed due to health priorities.

Currently, the athlete holds the world record in the 200-meter freestyle distance – 1:53.23.

It was previously reported that the star French biathlete decided to end her career at the age of 23.
