The forces of the Russian Federation struck the Kherson thermal power plant for the fourth time in less than a week

Since the beginning of February, the Russian army has attacked the Kherson Thermal Power Plant four times, Serhiy Koretskyi, chairman of the board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, announced on the evening of February 6.

“The enemy has been striking with artillery throughout the day on the territory of the Kherson thermal power plant of the Naftogaz Group. At least five hits were recorded. This is the fourth attack on the CHP since the beginning of February,” he said in his message.

According to a senior official, the company is coordinating with local authorities and working out all possible options for providing heat.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine declared that it qualifies the Russian strikes on energy, which deprive Ukrainians of heating against the background of severe frosts, as acts of genocide.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, after a meeting on the emergency situation in the energy industry, which arose as a result of Russian strikes, announced that on February 4, the most difficult situation occurred in Kyiv and the region, in Kharkiv and the region, in the Sumy region and Poltava region.

“Ukrenergo” reported a “significant number” of consumers in Kyiv, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia and Odesa regions without power, as well as damaged energy facilities in several regions as a result of a massive Russian attack on the night of February 3.
