Details: It is reported that Bundestag deputy Albrecht Glaser proposed adding a clause condemning the aggression of the Russian Federation to the AdN manifesto.
He criticized the fact that in the 85-page draft of the party’s program “there is not a single word” criticizing Russia’s attack on Ukraine. In his proposed proposal, it would be clearly stated that the Russian war “neglects many norms of the international law of war regarding the protection of the civilian population”, and therefore AdN “condemns Putin’s behavior”.
Literally: “However, 69% of the roughly 600 delegates at the party convention voted against the proposal.”
Details: In the adopted project of the “AdN” program, the war in Ukraine is mentioned only in passing – without criticizing Russia.
The approved draft of the party’s pre-election program mentions the war in Ukraine only in passing, without criticizing Russia. “The war in Ukraine shook the European peace order. We see the future of Ukraine as a neutral state outside NATO and the EU,” the draft document states.
Prehistory:
- The Alternative for Germany party is one of the most pro-Russian in the country. In early parliamentary elections on February 23, she is predicted to take second place, but she has no chance of entering the government, as all other parties refuse to cooperate with her.
- In the pre-election program, “AdN” proposes the exit of the country from the EU, the Paris climate agreement and the euro currency. Recently, its leader said that she wants to restore the operation of the Russian gas pipeline “North Stream”.
- The party is openly supported by American billionaire Elon Musk. In his statements, Musk claims that only he “can save Germany” and recommends his followers to vote for “AdN”.
- The survey showed that most Germans believe that Musk’s support for the far-right Alternative for Germany has had a positive effect on the party’s position ahead of the February 23 snap election.
