The European Commission stated that they think of replacing temporary protection for Ukrainians

A spokesman for the European Commission Marcus Lammer, answering the questions of journalists at a briefing on April 7 in Brussels stated that the European Commission has not decided to extend the status of temporary protection for Ukrainians after March 2026, but reflects on the possibility of providing them with other statuses to continue their stay on the EU.

Details: According to the EC spokesman, the decision to continue or not continue temporary protection for Ukrainians after March 2026 has not been decided, and this issue will be resolved in conjunction with the Ukrainian authorities and representatives of the EU countries.

The European Commission spokesman stressed that “a common European decision is required that will ensure predictability, stability and more balanced influence on the EU Member States systems.”

“The EU remains devoted to support for those who are escaping from the illegal invasion of Russia into Ukraine … With the activation of temporary protection directive, more than 4.5 million Ukrainians have found security, shelter and opportunities in EU member states,” Marcus Lamart said.
