The EU will open negotiations with Moldova on July 4 – President of Romania

Romania President Nikusor Dan said that on July 4, the European Union will open the first cluster to negotiate Moldova’s accession to the EU. This statement was published by Nikushour.

This will happen during the EU – Moldova summit in Chisinau.

“At Romania’s request, the European Council will confirm the support of the EU of the Republic of Moldova on the eve of the EU-Moldova Summit. With regard to European security and defense, Romania is ready to be part of the EU initiatives for the purpose of consolidating our European defense industry, ”he wrote on the social network.

On June 26-27, another summit of the European Council passes. It is the last large -scale political event for the Polish presidency in the EU Council, which ends on June 30.

The purpose of Poland, in particular, was the beginning of official negotiations on joining the EU with Ukraine and Moldova during the first six months of 2025. However, because of the Hungarian veto it does not seem to be achievable now. At least for Ukraine.
