Details: Von der Leyen reminded that in 2025, Kyiv will receive funds from the EU within the framework of the Ukraine Facility program, as well as a joint initiative with the G7 regarding the use of extraordinary income from frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine.

“2025 will be a decisive year… We have to make sure that Ukraine wins and put Ukraine in a position of strength. Europe has already provided Ukraine with almost 130 billion euros (aid). And we have ensured economic and financial stability (of Ukraine) until the end of 2025 – this is good news. With the Ukraine Facility and our joint loan with the G7, we will even cover most of Ukraine’s financial deficit in 2025. This is a great achievement.” – she informed.

According to the head of the European Commission, this “gives Ukraine more fiscal opportunities to purchase much-needed military equipment.”

We would like to remind you that the Ukraine Facility program provides up to 50 billion euros of funding in the form of grants and loans to support the recovery, reconstruction and modernization of Ukraine for the period from 2024 to 2027. Details about the program can be found in the article Ukraine Facility: what and under what conditions will 50 billion euros from the EU be spent.

At the end of October 2024, the G7 finalized the parameters for providing a $50 billion loan to Ukraine, which was agreed upon in June at a summit in Italy. And already on November 28, the EU and Ukraine signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the provision of macro-financial assistance for 18.1 billion euros at the expense of frozen Russian assets.
