“The lifting of sanctions is currently not under discussion… As I have already mentioned, we must increase the pressure on Russia,” Kallas emphasized.
She reminded that the EU states have decided that they will introduce sanctions against the “shadow fleet” of Russia on a permanent basis.
“Today, we applied sanctions to 40 vessels and some persons who contribute to the (shadow fleet” of the Russian Federation. – Ed.). We are not waiting for large packages (of sanctions), but in fact we are moving forward with those decisions that we can make,” the EU’s chief diplomat told EuroPravda.
She said that the sanctions against the “shadow fleet” of the Russian Federation had a huge impact on oil revenues.
“The work on the 20th package of sanctions continues in parallel, but I believe that we should not wait. We have shown that we are not waiting for these packages (of sanctions), but in fact we are moving faster with the introduction of sanctions against the “shadow fleet” on a permanent basis,” the official emphasized.
“So we are actually doing more to deprive them (the Russians) of the funds to finance this war,” Kaya Kallas summed up.

On the same day, the European Union expanded the framework sanctions regime against Belarusso that it also covers hybrid unfriendly actions of Belarus against its European neighbors.
