Direct speech: “This is a clear security risk for Europe. We agreed to further consider this proposal and check the mood of the member states.”

Details: Callas added that the issue may become acute as soon as the current “hot phase” of the war ends, and the EU should “have answers” by then.

We will remind:

  • On January 29 – at first unofficially – it became known that Estonia is submitting to member states a proposal to ban entry to the Schengen zone of participants in hostilities against Ukraine in the ranks of the Russian army.
  • The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Margus Tsahkna, emphasized that people with such experience can be recruited by Russian special services at great risk and pose a number of security problems.
