Details: On Tuesday, July 15, the EU Council introduced restrictive measures against seven persons and three organizations responsible for destabilization, undermining or threatening sovereignty and independence, as well as democracy, the rule of law and stability of Moldova.

New sanctions are directed against close associates of the fugitive oligarch Ilana Shora. The list includes leaders and members of organizations that are successors of the prohibited political party “Shore”.
As it is noted, some of the persons actively participated in voter bribery schemes during the presidential election and a constitutional referendum on EU accession in 2024, as well as in bribery for the purpose of corruption of several Moldova politicians.
Also, on July 15, the EU sanctions came from A7, which has “numerous relations with Moscow and is associated with efforts to influence the presidential election and the constitutional referendum of 2024 on EU accession.”
In addition, the EU Council included a political block “Victory”, founded by Short and involved in the dissemination of false information and voter bribery schemes.
The Moldova Cultural and Educational Center “for promoting the intervention in the 2024 presidential election” was also included in the list.
Given today’s decisions, the EU restrictive measures in connection with the actions that destabilize Moldova apply up to 23 persons and five entities.

These sanctions were, in particular, Moldovan fugitive oligarchs Vladimir Plahotniuk and Ilan Shore, as well as the Top Delight by the Shore Party Marina Tauber.
In April 2025 the EU Council decided to continue until April 29 2026 EU restrictive measures against persons responsible for destabilization, undermining or threatening Moldova’s sovereignty and independence.
