On August 6, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appointed Alexander Tsinsky to the post of director of Bab.
On June 24, the competition commission for the selection of the Director of the Bureau of Economic Security has decided to submit to the Prime Minister the candidacy of the finalist-Alexander Tsin. According to the law, the director of the Bab is appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers to submit the prime minister on the proposal of the competition commission.
However, on July 7, the Cabinet reported that he considered the submission of the Commission on the appointment of the Bab Director, and also studied additional materials, “provided in particular by the Security Service of Ukraine concerning national security issues and containing appropriate security estimates.”
In the end, the government proposed the commission to “submit no more than two candidates that will meet all the requirements, including security criteria.”
Oleksandr Tsvinsky called the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers to reject his candidacy such that “does not comply with the law”.
Tsivinsky led the third unit of detectives of the second main unit of NABU detectives. According to media reports, during the selection, the commission drew attention to the letter from the Security Service, according to which Tsvinsky, among other candidates, allegedly had relatives in Russia. In particular, his father allegedly lives there. During the hearing, Tsinsky said that he did not communicate with his father.
In a comment to the public July 8, he said that “his father, even if he is a Russian citizen now, which has not been confirmed, has been living in Ukraine for the last 30 years.” He also noted that he has not communicated with his father for 10 years.
