Details: 409 million euros are allocated to the budget of the mission for the period from November 14, 2024 to November 15, 2026.

“The EUMAM mission remains the main instrument of EU military support for Ukraine, its key objective is to contribute to the improvement of the military capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine… The mission will cooperate with NATO, in particular the NATO Security Support and Training Mission for Ukraine (NSATU), and exchange information with it,” – noted in the communiqué.

Earlier on Wednesday, EU ambassadors supported the decision.

As a reminder, the European Union Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) was created on October 17, 2022 with an initial mandate of two years, its work is financed by funds from the European Peace Fund.

As part of the mission, about 63,000 Ukrainian military personnel underwent various training during this time on the territory of the EU countries, which is comparable to the equipment of ten brigades.

“In the following months, another 15,000 soldiers will be trained as part of the mission, which will increase the total number of trained servicemen to 75,000 by the end of the winter of 2024-2025,” the statement added.

Further quantitative target indicators will be constantly adjusted depending on the needs of Ukraine.

Continuation of assistance with the training of the Ukrainian military is one of the points of a separate security agreement that Ukraine signed with the EU as a union in June 2024.

In August 2024, the defense ministers of the EU countries decided that they will not transfer the training of the Ukrainian military to the territory of Ukraine, but will do it as close as possible to its borders.
