“In the Poltava region, the air line was shut down during the air alert. During the inspection, traces of a ground fire caused by shelling were found. In the Donetsk region, as a result of hostilities, power was cut off at substations, household consumers, and a mine. The ministry recalled that since October 2022, Russia has carried out more than a thousand strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities.

Earlier today, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that on the night of September 18, Russian troops struck Ukraine with three Kh-59/69 guided air missiles from the airspace of the occupied Kherson Region and 52 strike drones from the Kursk and Yeysk regions in Russia, the Air Force reported Armed Forces

Electricity blackout schedules in Ukraine ceased to apply on September 7. This restriction has been applied since the day of another large-scale shelling of Ukrainian energy facilities by Russian troops on August 26. Ukrenergo called this Russian attack on the Ukrainian energy system the largest since February 2022. According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, a total of 15 regions of Ukraine were affected by the attack.

In the summer, Ukraine periodically operated hourly blackout schedules, the main reason for their use being the consequences of Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian power plants. According to Ukrenergo, the losses of the Ukrainian energy system exceed 9 GW of capacity, which is equivalent to the consumption during peak hours in the summer of the Netherlands or Finland.
