A woman’s story told in the First Medical Association of Lviv.
39-year-old Halyna Khmil from the Lviv region got married at the age of 18. Together with her husband Vasyl, they immediately started planning children, but it was not possible to get pregnant. Several doctors immediately diagnosed the woman with infertility.
The cause was polycystic ovaries – a hormonal disease, due to which Halyna’s menstruation occurred only once every six months, and ovulation did not occur at all.
When the woman turned to St. Anna’s Hospital, they selected the right hormone therapy for her. Soon, Galina became pregnant. After that, she gave birth to six children.

The whole couple did not plan to become parents, but Halyna learned that there is hope again.
“The man immediately said: “God gave us, so we must accept.” At first, of course, there was a little fear. But if God gave, then it must be so.” – said Halyna.
On the 39th week of pregnancy, Halyna gave birth to a healthy daughter, Marta, weighing 4,570 grams and 58 centimeters tall.
“When it is the seventh birth, the risks for the mother and the child increase significantly: possible bleeding, rupture of the uterus – especially when the babies are heavy. All of Galina’s babies were born weighing 4 kilograms or more, one of the babies weighed more than 5 kilograms. Fortunately, all deliveries, like the last one, ended successfully.” – said midwife-gynecologist Oksana Begen, who accompanied all of Halyna’s pregnancies.
Vasyl was present at the birth of all six children, but fell ill before the seventh birth. His eldest daughter Khrystyna, who is studying in the 4th year of the medical university, went to support Halyna instead. The girl cut the umbilical cord.
“It’s hard to describe the emotions when your baby sister is born. It’s something incredible!” – she shares.
