“As of the morning of today (September 30), a dust storm and high air pollution are observed in the Caspian lowland. Since the wind is now carrying air from that region, that is, from the southeast, the dust raised in the Caspian in the form of its smallest parts is carried to Ukraine in the upper layers atmosphere”, – reads the message of the Ukrhydrometeorological center on social networks.
“This fine dust settles in Ukraine in Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions. A small amount also falls on the territory of Cherkasy and Kirovohrad regions,” the message states.
As noted, the local dryness of the earth’s surface worsens the situation, adding to the pollination local dust and particles of soil lifted by the wind.
“The situation will hold until Friday, when the direction of the wind in Ukraine will change to the south and west. Dust will reach us in waves, that is, improvements will alternate with deterioration of visibility and air quality,” the Ukrhydrometeorological Center said.
