The director of the Rosatom company was detained in the Russian Federation on suspicion of financing the Armed Forces

Mykhailo Shcherbak, director of capital construction at Atomexport (a Rosatom company), has been detained on suspicion of financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Shot Telegram channel, close to the Russian security forces, reported.

The press service of the Rosatom company confirmed to the official news agency TASS that Shcherbak is suspected of financing the Armed Forces.

“Competent authorities are conducting investigative actions regarding the employee Mykhailo Shcherbak, they are being provided with the necessary assistance,” Interfax reports with reference to the state corporation’s statement.

The arrest of Shcherbak was not officially announced.

Until 2007, Mykhailo Shcherbak was the deputy head of the administration of the closed city of Sarov (Nizhny Novgorod Oblast) for architecture and urban planning. Later, he started working at “Atomenergoprojekt”, where his duties included the organization of the construction of nuclear power plants.

“Atombudexport” is part of the engineering division of the state corporation “Rosatom”, which unites leading companies in the nuclear industry of Russia. The company has offices in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and branches abroad.
