The Ukrainian military repelled a mechanized assault of Russian troops in the Kupyan direction in the Kharkiv region, the Khortytsia operational-strategic troop group announced on December 22.

“For the assault, the enemy engaged five units of armored vehicles: two tanks and three BMPs with landing forces, which were timely detected by the unit’s aerial reconnaissance… First, the enemy lost the BMP, and then the tank was finished off. Both enemy units were completely destroyed without the possibility of recovery,” the message reads.

According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy personnel “tried to hide in a forest strip, where they were eliminated by drone strikes.”

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Sunday that four attacks by the Russian Federation took place in the Kupyansk direction in a day near Petropavlivka and Kruglyakivka.

In October, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Sinegubov, informed that the situation in the Kupyansk direction of the Kharkiv region is constantly changing – Russian troops were approaching the city by four kilometers. Forced evacuation of citizens continues in the region.
