Literally Prosecutor General’s Office: “On November 22, a fire broke out in a residential building in the village of Ositna, Uman district, Cherkasy region, as a result of which four minor children died. Two more are in the hospital with burns.”

Details: As the regional police established, a large family lived in the house, where seven minor children were raised. Their 32-year-old parents looked after them. That evening, the father was at a local enterprise where he worked. The woman went to help her husband and left six sleeping children unattended.
Another child, a 12-year-old girl, was staying with relatives at the time of the tragedy, the prosecutor’s office said.
An 8-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy woke up and noticed the fire. They ran out of the house and started calling the elders for help. They called the special services, the police added.
Thus, two boys aged 5 and 7, a three-year-old girl and a 10-month-old baby died in the fire, and two more children aged 8 and 10 received burns. They are under the supervision of doctors.
Law enforcement officers are conducting an investigation immediately under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including: intentional killing of minors (1, 2 part 2 of article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), violation of fire safety that led to the death of people (part 2 of article 270 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), malicious failure to fulfill parental duties (article 166 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The mothers have already reported suspicion under the article of malicious neglect of duties to care for the children, which caused their death. They are also checking the actions of social services, because the family was registered.
