The Czech Republic appointed a new ambassador to Russia – he will be Daniel Kostoval, who previously served as the country’s deputy defense minister. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic on Tuesday, October 15.
As stated in the message, Koshtoval will go to Moscow “in the coming months.”
“Ambassadors in Russia have key countries that are strategic allies of the Czech Republic – Great Britain, France, Germany or the United States of America. I wish the ambassador a lot of strength in this difficult mission,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavskyi.
The report also states that Koshtoval has already received an agreement (consent) from Russia.
The Czech Foreign Ministry also cited facts from the biography of the new ambassador to the Russian Federation. Since 1996, he worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic as director of the security policy department, director of the Northern and Eastern Europe department, and general director for non-European countries.
The official worked at the Czech Embassy in Moscow (2003−2006) and at the Czech Embassy in Washington (2009−2011 years). In 2013, Kostoval was appointed First Deputy Minister of Defense.
